Activity

Activity shows what your team has changed on a map, newest first. Use it to catch up when you come back to a map after a while.

Click the Activity icon at the top of the map's left toolbar to open it. A blue dot on the icon means someone else has made changes since you last opened Activity on this map.

What you see

Each entry is one sentence about one person's work on one layer, for example:

  • Priya Raman added 14 lines to Water Mains
  • Marcus Webb edited point #114 on Sanitary Sewer
  • Lena Ortiz added 2 attachments to point #114 on Sanitary Sewer
  • Sam Delgado imported 1,240 points into Permits from CSV

Edits made close together are grouped into one entry, so a morning of field work reads as "added 40 points", not forty separate lines. Your own changes appear as You.

Changes made through an API token, such as edits from QGIS, show the token owner's name followed by (API token).

Activity includes:

  • Features added, edited, or deleted
  • File imports
  • Attachments and notes added to features
  • Fields added to or removed from a layer
  • Layers added to or removed from the map

Changes to map styling, filters, popups, and bookmarks are not listed.

Catching up

When you open Activity, changes since your last visit are highlighted at the top under a count such as 5 updates since your last visit. Older entries appear below an Earlier line. When there is nothing new, Activity says You're all caught up.

Opening Activity marks everything as seen and clears the blue dot. The highlighting stays while you are on the map, so you can switch to another panel, come back, and pick up where you left off.

The first time you open a map, earlier history is shown but is not marked as new.

Show on map

Click Show on map on an entry to center the map on where the change happened. The map keeps your zoom level, and zooms out only if the change would not fit on screen. The changed features pulse briefly. If the entry is about a single feature, its record also opens.

For deleted features, the area where they were is outlined instead.

Who sees what

Activity follows layer access. You only see entries for layers you can view:

  • If you cannot view a layer, its activity never appears, and its name is not shown.
  • If your group can only see the features you created on a layer, you only see your own activity on that layer.
  • When a layer moves to the trash, its activity is hidden.

Activity for your whole organization

Activity in the left sidebar of your organization shows the same kind of feed across every map and layer you can view, plus the Wiki, newest first. A blue dot next to it means someone else has made changes since you last opened it.

Use the buttons at the top to show All, only Maps & data, or only the Wiki.

Each entry links to where it happened:

  • Show on map opens a map with the feature centered and its record open.
  • Open map opens the map the change is on.
  • Open table opens a data table.
  • Open page opens the Wiki page.

Wiki entries cover pages being created, edited, moved to Trash, and restored. Everyone in the organization sees Wiki activity, because everyone can read the Wiki. Map and data entries follow the same rules as a map's Activity panel above.

The organization feed has its own "last visit", separate from each map's, so opening one does not clear the other.
